About Ogden Rose Public Library
Celebrating a century of community, learning, and connection.
Our Library's History
The Ogden Rose Public Library was founded on April 19, 1919, with the generous support of John H. and Matilda Rose, who helped create a place for learning and community connection in Ogden, Illinois.
For 77 years, the library served residents from its original location in the Ogden Town Hall. On April 19, 1996—exactly 77 years after its founding—a tornado destroyed the building. Despite this loss, the community remained committed to preserving the library and ensuring it would continue serving future generations.
Today, the Ogden Rose Public Library remains an important community resource, providing books, programs, and services that support learning, literacy, and connection for people of all ages.
A Cornerstone of Learning
Undeterred, the Ogden community came together to rebuild, and the library proudly reopened in its current location on June 5, 1998. Today, the library continues to serve as a cornerstone of learning, connection, and community engagement.
Mission Statement
